Despite a vsesezonnost of the tournaments held on mixed single combats, it is possible to allocate a certain time interval, say, the calendar year characterizing development of this sport. Our site asked to bring preliminary intermediate results of tournaments on MMA of 2013 the president of WMMAA Vadim Finkelstein.

– Vadim Grigoryevich, as though you commented on largest of the last tournaments on the mixed single combats and a course of implementation of the MMA new projects?

– Since the beginning of year in the world of the mixed single combats passed too many events to speak about all even in detailed interview. Therefore probably it is worth stopping only on most significant of to whom the direct relation has M-1 Global. About the M-1 Challenge 37 tournaments which took place on February 27 in Orenburg and M-1 Challenge 38 which has passed on April 9 in the Petersburg Sports palace "Ledovy" I already enough in detail I spoke in the previous interviews. After that on May 23 in Moscow on the universal sports arena of the international exhibition complex "Expo Crocus" I passed the M-1 Challenge 39 tournament, and on June 8 in the mountain area Dzheyrakh of the Republic of Ingushetia took place the M-1 Challenge 40 tournament. And, at last, in amateur MMA the largest events held under the auspices of the MMA (WMMAA) world association, became, of course, the championship of Russia which endings passed on June 2 in Chelyabinsk and the open mixed single combats European championship on June 15 in Kiev.

– Than the M-1 Challenge 39 tournament in Moscow was remembered?

– On the previous M-1 Challenge 38 tournament we tested for the first time a new design of a ring for carrying out our tournaments. Unfortunately, that time it not completely justified our hopes. You remember that in a final duel of evening between Konstantin Gluhov and Kenny Garner rage didn't sustain heat, and some time for its repair and reduction in a working condition was required. We considered it, and in Moscow already modifed rage option with stronger fastening of ropes and more rigid grid below was established. This time rage passed test, including and quarterfinal fight of M-1 Grand Prix 2013 between Denis Smoldarev and Ibrahim Ibragimov.

– Rage justified hopes that, unfortunately, you won't tell about Ibrahim Ibragimov who after a stop of fight of the referee moved itself extremely isn't sports that led it to a lifelong exception of the Global M-1 tournaments. Act, of course, shocking, but nevertheless, whether not too a strict measure – lifelong disqualification?

– I agree, punishment severe. But it, in my opinion, completely corresponds to offense. The judge stopped fight as saw that Ibrahim can be traumatized if in time not to interfere. Everything was made according to rules MMA. There can be no complaints to the judge or the rival. The mixed single combats rather rigid sport, and that it imposes big responsibility on fighters. All duels have to pass only in a framework of rules, and any manifestation of an excessive emotionality, especially frank rudeness in relation to the rival, to judges or the audience have to be stopped immediately pronouncedly. We not simply were given the decision on Ibrahim Ibragimov's lifelong disqualification, but we couldn't accept another. By the way, judging by interviews which Ibragimov after happened gave, he not so and repents, continuing to defend the correctness as he understands it. Club, managers of the fighter apologized, everything, except Ibrahim. M-1 always very much watched closely, and will watch from now on, purity of the ranks.

– Well, then we will address to more pleasant subjects. This year for the first time I started M-1 Grand Prix 2013 among heavyweights. At present it justifies your hopes?

– I would tell, more than … However, implementation of this project demanded considerable efforts. To bring together in one tournament grid eight very strong heavyweights – a task in itself not simple. Here our matchmeyker should pay tribute. Honestly, speaking, several years ago I wouldn't decide to set for them similar tasks, but M-1 Global develops, employees gain experience, acquire communications and contacts without which it would be impossible to organize tournaments of that level that we will see off now.

– At the same time M-1 Grand Prix 2013 passes not absolutely as reflected in the beginning: tournament was stretched in time, a number of duels should be transferred because of traumas of participants?

– It is valid so, but I don't consider that transfer of any fights somehow discredits idea of carrying out Grand Prix. It is rather on the contrary, fans of the mixed single combats in different regions could observe quarterfinals alive and, I think, these duels didn't disappoint the audience.

– While we spoke only about participants of M-1 Grand Prix 2013, but tournament grids of the last M-1 Challenge included many interesting fights and in other weight categories?

– On the M-1 Challenge 39 tournament after quite considerable break in performances in the Global M-1 tournaments again there was to our ring Vyacheslav Vasilevsky. Before it carried out two fights on the S-70 tournaments, tried to act in Bellator where won one fight and lost in the second then decided to train and act in the homeland. We signed with Vyacheslav the biennial contract on 6 fights. He won the first of them on M-1 Challenge 39 against Brazilian Charles Andrade. The similar contract is signed with Victor Nemkov who on M-1 Challenge 40 won against Reinaldo da Silva from Brazil.

– M-1 Grand Prix participating in quarterfinal fight 2013 Jeffrey Monson was dissatisfied with a duel stop with Mahomed Malikov. What your opinion about it?

– I don't find it possible to make comments somehow on the decision of the arbitrator which was based on the conclusion of the doctor. If the doctor considered that continuation of fight can do harm to health of one of athletes, his decision final and to the appeal isn't subject.

– As though you estimated the general level of the M-1 Challenge 40 tournament?

– I think, tournament met expectations of the audience and not only because took place in the picturesque mountain region of Ingushetia, but also on heat of fight. Perhaps, level of some of participants also was slightly lower than a usual high level of the Global M-1 tournaments, but we deliberately went on attracting the maximum number of fighters from the republics of the North Caucasus.

– From the professional mixed single combats we will pass to tournaments of fans. First of all, it is a question of the championship of Russia and the open European championship.

– These tournaments once again confirmed the fact of growth of popularity of the mixed single combats in Russia and in the world. Unlike last year when the championship of Russia was held for the first time, on the championship of this year the fighters who have passed a sieve of qualifying tournaments in the regions were allowed only. Respectively and level of finalists was much higher. In turn, national championship became a selection stage for participation in the European championship. The question of professional development of the judicial case didn't remain unaddressed also. A number of judicial seminars in different regions of the country was carried out, judges passed certification, and only best of them were allowed to service of large tournaments. Certainly, and in the championship of Russia in Chelyabinsk, and in the European championship in Kiev didn't do without some slips, but without them in new business never does. In any case, if there were any defects, they didn't spoil the general favorable impression. Now preparation for the first official World Cup in the mixed fighting single combats of MMA among fans is necessary to us under the auspices of WMMAA which will pass on October 24 and 25 during carrying out the world games of martial arts in the Petersburg Sports palace "Ledovy".
