In Permanent mission of Yakutia in Moscow on February 11 took place the memorial evening of the Olympic champion in free-style wrestling Roman Dmitriyev. To remember the great athlete and the trainer came his friends, colleagues and pupils.

This evening many warm words about Roman Mikhaylovich were heard. Passed four years since there was no outstanding wrestler. The athlete and the public figure – it always was in the center of events. Having finished sports career in 1981, Roman Dmitriyev for many years entered a trainer's staff of USSR national team, trained junior Russian national team, worked in Federation of wrestling of the Russian Federation. In the last years of life Dmitriyev worked as the adviser to the constant representative for sports, and then was the representative of the State Meeting (Il Tumen) in Federal Assembly of Russia.

Companions spoke not only about grandiose sporting achievements of Dmitriyev, but also about its human qualities. Roman Mikhaylovich was kind, open, sympathetic. It always supported fellow countrymen in word and deed. The spiritual force, optimism and strong character brought together round it many friends.

During the evening on the screen photos were replaced, illustrating stories of colleagues, there was a newsreel of last years — certificates of victories of Roman Dmitriyev, shots with pupils and friends.

Roman Mikhaylovich Dmitriyev till last day was vigorous and efficient. Now memory of it lives in the hearts of people, books, sports glory of Yakutia.
