The head coach of the men's national team commented on FILA innovations
This weeks FILA published new weight categories and some additions in new rules. Ruslan Savlokhov told about participation of Ukraine in this process and a private judgment on changes.
"That returned wrestling to the Olympic program is a great success. And that at last rules changed it too very much pleases. – there began Ruslan Soslanovich. - the Association of wrestling of Ukraine took very active part in development of new rules. We had many recommendations and the majority of our offers were satisfied.
At the Olympic Games now there will be only six weight categories, and for us it was very important that added at least two categories in the European championships and the world. That we didn't lose those children who are engaged in wrestling, but don't get in Olympic weight. That they didn't lose interest to wrestling.
Also we made the offer to increase a gap on balls for the early end of wrestling. When for reception give two-five balls, fights very quickly came to an end. Experience showed that many fights took place on the verge of a case. For example, there was such moment in the World Cup when Ibrahim Aldatov lost with the score 6:0 and if it lost one more ball, didn't become the double world champion. Therefore from our party there was a wish to increase a gap to ten balls. I think that now fights become more interesting. After all before change of rules for pass to feet gave one ball, and now – two. Athletes didn't get used yet and fights with a gap in seven balls very quickly took place. I consider that ten balls of a gap for free-style wrestling are an optimum option.
Here some of important rational offers which we brought.
Many are excited by destiny of not Olympic categories. But I think that the competition there will be not less strong. Considering that we could lose the whole category – I think it good compensation. There will be champions of Europe, the world and these medals aren't less valuable to the country.
Issue of transition to a certain weight category will resolve individual the trainer with the wards. I watched a situation in female wrestling and I can tell that transitions from category in category are always very individual. There were successful transitions, were also unsuccessful – everything depends on the athlete and on the trainer.
Since January first these changes come into force, and I for 100% am sure that time to be prepared and adapt before the Olympic Games at us enough."
