This highest award FILA by which heads of states are usually awarded, is handed over to Franz Beckenbauer in the Austrian Salzburg. At the ceremony which has taken place in one of a casino of the city, there were presidents of the German and Austrian federations of wrestling, other officials. The president of FILA Nenad Lalovich couldn't arrive on action in connection with operation for a fracture of a hand, but it communicated with audience by video conference.

At ceremony it was noted that Franz Beckenbauer actively joined in campaign for protection of the Olympic wrestling, he made the statement in its support and held negotiations in this respect with the German member the IOC Thomas Bach who was elected subsequently the president the IOC.

It is interesting that in the childhood Franz Beckenbauer wanted to become a fighter, it registered in section, but soon trainers told it that it too thin and advised to try other sport. So he became a football player.
