On March 24-25, 2012 in Ulan-Ude passed the XVII International tournament on free-style wrestling on prizes of the President of the Republic of Buryatia.

Tournament took place for the first time in a new sports and sports complex where the Center of free-style wrestling with halls on 5 carpets took place. Fights watched more than 2000 viewers. Tournament brought together more than 100 participants from 7 countries and 8 regions of Russia. Athletes fought on two carpets in 7 weight categories. In two days of tournament the Buryat national team won 6 medals — 2 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze. Market Zhalsapov and Alexander Bogomoyev became winners of the XVII tournament. The deserved trainer of the USSR, Russia and Georgia Dmitry Mindiashvili, the Olympic champion, the bronze prize-winner of the Olympic Games in Beijing David Musulbes, the head of department of free-style wrestling of federation of wrestling of the Russian Federation Shamil Nevretdinov, the technical delegate of FILA Hichzhran Sharifov and many others became guests of honor of tournament.
By the special nominations were awarded:
— Aldar Balzhinimayev — "The most young participant of tournament";
— Soslan Zaseev — "The best judge of tournament";
— Bayar Tsyrenov — "For the will to win".

Alexander Bogomoyev is recognized as the best fighter of tournament, and his instructor Valery Ivanov became the best trainer.
