THE CHAMPIONSHIP OF JAPAN of SAMBO ON THE CUP OF THE PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA OPENED YEAR OF RUSSIAN-JAPANESE EXCHANGES IN THE FIELD OF MARTIAL ARTS

The sambo championship of Japan on the Cup of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin took place in Yokohama.  Competitions are organized by Japanese federation of sambo and the International federation of sambo with support of Embassy of Russia and Rossotrudnichestvo, is reported on a department site.

Representatives of Japanese sports clubs, students of the International university of martial arts and other higher education institutions took part in competitions. Wrestlers competed in nine weight categories at men and in eight at women. Among participants — the champion of University games in Kazan Ruy Tacajasi and Kot Eto's silver prize-winner.

From the Russian side of an award to winners handed over the ambassador of Russia in Japan Evgeny Afanasyev, the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in Japan Konstantin Vinogradov, the president of FIAS Vasily Shestakov and the master of sports and the owner of the 5th Svetlana Eregina is given on judo.

These are the first competitions within a Year of Russian-Japanese exchanges in the field of the martial arts as which initiators the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the prime minister of Japan Shinzo Abe acted. The colourful opening ceremony of Year of exchanges took place in January in the most known hall in Japan of martial arts "Nikhon Budokan". The Russian guests participated in "Kagami-biraki's" traditional New Year's ceremonies ("Mirror opening") and "Budo-hadzime" ("The beginning of martial arts") in whom representatives of all nine types of Japanese martial arts showed the skill: judo, kendo, kyudo, aikido, karate, naginata, syorindzi kempo, sumo, dzyukendo.
