The Magnitogorsk Federation of judo defined three best athletes at the age of 14-17 years following the results of the expiring year
As criteria for selection the professional - the jury chose the relation of children to trainings and high sports results. As a result Dali Liluashvili (Tsunami club), Mikhail Budakov (Yunost club) and Rustam Timuralenov (Sever club) were entitled the best. The trip on the international tournament to France became the main award for athletes.
Tournament took place in the city of Lille on December 8. Athletes from 25 countries acted at once on 8 tatamis. On an equal basis with athletes from Europe judoists took part in competitions from Algeria and That, and also the USA and Canada.
Because of the high competition our two sport hays didn't manage to break through in final part of tournament. Dali Liluashvili conceded in an equal meeting to the Dutchwoman, and Mikhail Budakov could consult only with one French rivals, and to another conceded. All hopes were rested upon Rustam Timuralenov.
In its weight to 50 kilograms there were 43 participants. In the first meeting the victory over the Dutch very hard was given, then our athlete only added from fight to fight and quite surely won against the Belgian, the Italian and two French. Fears were caused by a final meeting where one more very strong Frenchman was the rival. But the lightning hook and suffocating reception made Rustam the winner of these competitions. By the way, this day it there was the only gold medal won by the athlete from Russia.
