In the shadow of Grand Pri

The national team of Azerbaijan on judo after successful performance in the World Cup in Rio where were won one gold and bronze award, decided to make a competitive pause.

The team serially passed the Grand Prix in Rijeka, Almaty and Tashkent, and, probably, decided to rely on tournaments under the end of the year which promises to be quite saturated.

The World Cup where Elkhan Mamedov (100 kg) won first place, and Orhan Safarov (60 kg) became the third, for certain corrected plans of a trainer's staff a little. But on the other hand, without practice remained a number of the judoists who have passed the FIFA World Cup. Among them the participant of the Olympic Games in Athens Tarlan Kerimov (66 kg) who while loses the competition to Nidzhad Shikhalizada, and also bronze prize-winner Gran-Pri in Abu Dhabi Tural Safguliyev (81 kg). The last circumstance can't but guard as the category to 81 kg for quite some time now is for us problem. After all the Olympic champion Elnur Mamedli who has won the European championship and two starts of "World Masters" is apparently close to completion of the career. Traumas don't allow to come to it to former level and while the titled athlete is in a shadow. After Games in London which appeared for it the extremely unsuccessful, it acted only on the Grand Prix of Düsseldorf, having conceded in the first fight, and in the run-up to the World Cup seriously injured a foot. So while it is very far from the former standards therefore the reserve question here receives special relevance.

Besides you shouldn't forget that Grand Prix tournaments, as well as other large starts, have rating value. And if, say, world champion E.Mamedov deserved a small competitive respite and heads the table of ranks, the rests still should make efforts to improve the positions. Including to Elmar Gasymova who goes the seventh in weight to 100 kg and now is the second number after Elkhan. The interesting situation develops and in category to 60 kg where O. Safarov who has become third on a world championship starts restricting the participant of the Olympic Games Ilgara Mushkiyev. And their correspondence competition promises to be quite fascinating, after all on a game – the permit on the Olympic Games in Rio.

As for the forthcoming large starts, them remained not so much and they will pass in an interval since the end of October on the beginning of December. This period will include the Grand Prix in Tsingtao, Abu Dhabi and Dzhedzhu, and also "Grand Slam" in Tokyo. Most likely, on the majority of these tournaments the Azerbaijani judoists also will be lit. Though to speak about it with full confidence while early.
