THE WORLD CUP IN RIO DE JANEIRO

MAIN COMPETITIONS OF YEAR. FEW DAYS BEFORE START.

From August 26 to September 1, 2013 judoists from all over the world will gather in the Brazilian Rio de Janeiro on the most important event of year – a personal and team championship of the world. Competitions will last week and will define champions and prize-winners in fourteen categories of personal tournament and two – command. The championship for the second time will unite this two types of the program in one action that on a plan of organizers from the International federation of judo (IJF) has to promote the positive solution of a question on inclusion of team competitions in the program of Olympic Games-2016. The size of the general prize fund of competitions in Rio-2013 will make 300 thousand US dollars.

In the capitals of future Games all federations carry usually out test competitions to check halls, hotels and the organization as that. For judoists of Rio – the city well familiar. Six years ago here the World Cup was held (Russians then won three medals: superheavyweight Tamerlan Tmenov became the silver prize-winner, and bronze awards were received by Ivan Pershin (90 kg) and Elena Ivaschenko (absolute), and also in Rio annually passes representative "Grand Slam" on judo where our athletes act quite successfully. So the present World Cup becomes the next check and rehearsal of future grandiose event. It even will be carried out on similar with the Olympic program – seven days of personal competitions, on two weights (one man's and one female) in day, since lungs and finishing heavy weight categories. In the eighth day to a tatami there are national teams – participants of team tournament. MARACANÃZINHO ARENA containing on the tribunes of nearly 12 thousand fans becomes a venue of the World Cup.

Tournament in Rio-2013 will be important and from the point of view of refereeing and the organization of competitions. Here testing of new rules which was begun on "Grand Slam" tournament in Paris in February of this year will be complete. After Rio all results and reviews of innovations will be analysed and final decisions on their further application are passed.

On the World Cup past, in the preolympic Paris-2011, the Russian national team won four medals: Tagir Haybulayev became the world champion first in the Russian history in category 100 кт, and bronze medals were won by Musa Mogushkov (66 kg), Alexander Mikhaylin (over 100) and Elena Ivaschenko (over 78). In total in the Russian modern history gold wrote names of seven world champions and 32 prize-winners. It should be noted that three of seven gold awards belong to the Muscovite, silver prize-winner Games-2013 Alexander Mikhaylin who in Rio will make the next attempt to ascend to a world pedestal. As a part of a Russian team in Brazil there is one more world champion – Ivan Nifontov, the third prize-winner Games in London from which all too wait for success repetition.

The Russian national team will be presented on a tatami to Rio by leading athletes in 13 categories (in six at men – except for 100 kg, and in seven - at women), and both teams in the "wall on a wall" tournament.

Besides above-named into the national team-2013 for participation in individual competitions entered: champions of Europe Beslan Mudranov (60 kg) and Alim Gadanov (66), owners of gold of Europe and awards of a world championship Kirill Denisov (90) and Natalia Kuzyutina (52), the world champion-2012 (in team), the prize-winner of the European championships Murad Kodzokov (73), medallists of the European superiority – Grigory Sulemin (90), Alesya Kuznetsova (48), Irina Zabludina (57) and Martha Labazina (63), and also Ivan Vorobyov (81), Lyusine Avakyan (48), Julia Ryzhova (52), Irina Gaziyeva (70), Anastas Dmitriev (78) and Maria Shekerova (+78), having good situation in a world rating.

In the "wall on a wall" tournament our national team will be strengthened by world champions in team Mikhail Pulyaev (66), Sirazhudin Magomedov (81) and Renat Saidov (+90), Denis Yartsev (73) and Yury Panasenkov (+90), and at women: Tatyana Kazenyuk (57), Ekaterina Valkova (63), Ekaterina Denisenkova (70), Anaid Mkhitaryan and Alexandra Babintseva (they are over 70).

Individual tournament will begin on Monday, August 25. Start to competitions of easily scales – 60 kg at men and 48 kg at women, will be given in the 10th mornings local time, lagging behind from Moscow at seven o'clock. Opening ceremony is planned for Monday, with 15 till 15.30. The exact time of the beginning of the final block while isn't present, but according to the program of competition have to be complete till 18.30 as procedure of weighing of participants of the next day of the championship at 19.00 begins.

On Tuesday, August 27, to a tatami there are men in category 66 kg and women  52 kg, on Wednesday, August 28, 73 and 57 kg, on August 29 – 81 and 63 kg respectively, on August 30 – 90, 70 and 78 kg, on August 31 – 100, +100 and +78 kg.

On Sunday, September 1, in the 9th mornings team competitions will begin.
