Open All-Russian tournament on the judo, devoted to memory of the first in public elected governor of Chelyabinsk region of Peter Sumin, collected more than 20 teams of young athletes, including from Kazakhstan and Germany.

The traditional competitions founded in memory of the first in public elected governor of Chelyabinsk region, took place in the past weekend in a track and field athletics arena of the Ural state university on physical culture. On duels more than 350 young athletes from a number of regions of Russia, and also Germany and Kazakhstan gathered. Young judoists played awards in ten weight categories. Children were adjusted only on a victory and didn't disappoint the audience, having shown rather intense wrestling.
"Perhaps, not it is clear to all, to what this prefix: "in public chosen". The matter is that Peter Ivanovich was and remains the only governor who was elected to this position by inhabitants of Chelyabinsk region, – the chairman of organizing committee of tournament, the director general of the Ravis company Andrey Kosilov noted in the greeting. – Thus Peter Ivanovich made a huge contribution to sports development in South Ural, thanks to its active support in our region the large number of sport centers, sports clubs and pools was open, and in 2004 in Chelyabinsk the Russia's first Center of the Olympic preparation for judo was open. And in many respects exactly thanks to Peter Sumin's interest this sport received such wide popularity in Chelyabinsk region".
Tournament was visited by many known guests, including the spouse of the ex-governor Olga Sumin (it participated and in an awards ceremony of prize-winners of competitions). In the performance before young participants of tournament and the numerous audience she noted that sports cultivate in people aspiration to leadership, teach honest and competitive fight, to win, overcoming any obstacles. "And, as it seems to me, judo can be considered as sports of future politicians, – Olga Ilyinichna told, having cited as an example the American president Theodor Roosevelt – in the childhood that was the frail child, but the love to sports (and, in particular, to judo) helped to achieve political heights.
As well as in last years, tournament on judo of memory of Peter Sumin attracted a great number of guests, on Saturday here was there's not an inch of room. About one thousand people came to honor memory of the first in public elected governor of Chelyabinsk region and to be ill for young athletes. As the bronze prize-winner of Olympic Games, the champion of Europe Yury Stepkin later noted, "all still had excellent impression of tournament". And on Sunday the master class for future champions was carried out by owners of the sixth is given Yury Stepkin and the trainer of German national team Slavko Tekich.
