More than 100 participants were brought together by open republican tournament on judo "Memory" among young men and girls till 17 years which took place in SKTs in the Syktyvkar residential district Timber mill.

As the senior trainer of DYuSSh No. 5 of Syktyvkar Alexander Koyushev told to "Komiinform", athletes took part in competitions from nine municipalities. Competitions were carried out among young men and girls in two age groups — 1995-1997 year of birth and 1998-1999 year of birth.

Among the senior young men the first all-command place was taken by the national team of Syktyvkar, the second — the Knyazhpogostsky area, the third — the Priluzsky area. Among younger young men the ust-vymets, the second — residents of Syktyvkar, the third — judoists from the Priluzsky area became first.

Аmong gold medallists Nikita Nesterov (55 kg) from Kortkerosa, Ivan Kashin (60 kg) from the city of Mikun, resident of Syktyvkar Edward Stepanov (73 kg), Ivan Trifanov (46 kg) and Maria Kuznetsova (57 kg) from Objyachevo especially caused a stir.

Tournament was dated for Day of the defender of the Fatherland.

Besides, on February 23-24 in Koryazhm passed the All-Russian festival of single combats on judo and the sambo, collected more than 1000 participants. About 60 athletes took part in it from Komi. Residents of Syktyvkar got two gold medals: on judo — to Simeon Stepanov, on sambo — Daniel Poletayev.
