The history of sports Ossetia is first of all history of people who stood at its sources. Any sports undertaking (and it not only in sports) can't be realized without a role of the personality. And such persons in sports in Ossetia was much.

We perfectly remember that contribution which left Vladimir Petrovitch Akoyev (weightlifting), Aslan-Beck Zakharovich Dzgoyev (free-style wrestling), Kermen Nikolaevich Sumenov (Greco-Roman wrestling), Kazim Vasilyevn Dulayev (rhythmic gymnastics), Albert Grigoryevich Grigoryan (fencing), Andrey Ivanovich Zazroyev (soccer), Vladimir Gerasimovich Koroyev (track and field athletics) … Distinctive features of these teachers were deep devotion to the work, the extraordinary thinking and high professionalism.

But there was one more noble quality which united them – they never looked at the pupils as on the tool for satisfaction of the trainer's vanity, and, on the contrary, tried to reveal their talent, to find and cultivate combative spirit, to develop it and to send to the necessary course. In this number of eminent teachers there is also a name of the deserved trainer of the USSR deserved the master of sports of the USSR Mikhail Gavrilovich BEKMURZOV.

The destiny of this remarkable trainer and the athlete wonderfully has something in common with destinies of simple rural children from mountain settlements, whose childhood dropped out for severe years of the Great Patriotic War.

Mikhail Gavrilovich was born in the village Kamunta of the Irafsky area on August 30, 1928 and was younger of five children in Gavrila (Gabran) Gaboyevich Bekmurzov and (Zagalova) Maria Slamirzayevna Bekmurzova's family. To tell that it were difficult years – not to tell anything. It were lean years of times of collectivization. Bekmurzov's family in inhuman conditions tried to survive simply. However, as well as many others.

Life in mountains is interfaced to constant dangers. When Mikhail was 2 years old, he with the father went for a haymaking. Gabran put the son on a grass, gave чурек and turned to work. Through any time he heard children's laughter, turned and grew cold with horror: Mikhail wonderfully caught a venomous snake for a throat and laughed when that, having twisted his hand, a tail beat on the person! . The next year at an unsuccessful jump from a vehicle small Mikhail got under bullock cart wheels. The child was three hours between life and death, but survived.

Since small years Bekmurzov's all children joined work. And though Mikhail was the most younger, his physical data differently as phenomenal you won't call. By its 16 years any adult man couldn't argue with Mikhail during the haymaking.

In 1943 seven comprehended a grief: the father died. The same year received the notice on death at the front big brother Afaya. All weight laid down on 15-year-old Mikhail's shoulders. But on it difficulties didn't end. In 1948 mother dies. To family it became intolerable hard. Mikhail arrives on driver's courses then works as the driver in Sadon. Having endured some unpleasant moments at a wheel, he understands that it not its path. In 1950 enters the North Ossetian teacher training institute, on faculty of physical training. When time comes to decide on specialization, he chooses weightlifting, but as Mikhail Gavrilovich subsequently joked, "the bar was always stronger than me".

In 1951 when to Mikhail was 23, it together with the nephew Kazbek Bolatov came to a wrestling hall. It became the fatal decision, but it wasn't so simple to get to section at that time. The only hall was on Marcus St. At that time on wrestling didn't take children, and selected in connection with limited opportunities. Selection took place very simply: the beginner changed clothes, became in orchestra seats. The examiner – Aslan-Beck Zakharovich Dzgoyev. Mikhail with honor passed "examination". Aslan-Beck patted it shoulder and told: "Perhaps, you leave sense".

In a year Mikhail becomes the champion of RSFSR. In the next years it five more times wins this title, but the first big success comes to it in 1957 when he becomes the third prize-winner of the USSR championship in Kiev. It is necessary to notice that those years world champion Vakhtang Balavadze was the autocratic champion in his weight legendary Georgian middleweight. But in 1959 on the Sports contest of the people of the USSR Bekmurzov removes the outstanding Georgian wrestler on the second step of a podium.

Before a trainer's staff of USSR national team there was a difficult choice: whom to put in the main structure on the XVIII Olympic Games in Rome? The decision was unambiguous – Mikhail Bekmurzov. Probably, it would be the hour of triumph for Gavrilovich (to it was already 32) and it hardly would miss such chance. But the destiny disposed differently. In the last day before competitions the trainer's staff changed the decision, and Vakhtang Balavadze participated in Olympic Games.

Today dopodlinno difficultly to learn the reason of such unexpected turn of events, but, certainly, authority of the outstanding Georgian wrestler I played an important role. By the way, the senior trainer who has made such decision, was removed from the post at once after the Olympic Games as Balavadze, having passed three circles, left further wrestling and on it finished the career.

The next year Mikhail perfectly fought in the World Cup in Tokyo, but in the ending in equal wrestling conceded a gold medal to legendary Iranian wrestler Emamali Habibi (by a nickname the Mazandaransky Tiger). And in 1963 I won the Sports contest of the people of the USSR and to it entrusted to protect honor of the country on the World Asian games GANEFO in Jakarta. It justified the hopes rested upon it and surely won a gold medal. It was the apogee of its sports career! But years prevailed, and he decided to leave big-time sports the invincible.

Mikhail Gavrilovich, being still acting athlete, I started working with deaf-mutes, training them in wrestling subtleties. Some years were headed by a trainer's staff on preparation of USSR national team for the World games of deaf-mutes which were taking place in Helsinki in 1961 and Washington in 1965th. There our national team won almost all gold medals!

Before the moving to Tashkent Mikhail Gavrilovich worked in sports Committee. The gym where he trained, was on Lenin St. All city knew this "cult" place: hundreds children passed through school of uncle Mischa as wards tenderly called him. To me too has the luck to train in 1975 in this hall. The first that was remembered – the atmosphere which the teacher from capital letter is capable to create only. Uncle Mischa treated those trainers who went the most noble, honest and difficult way, directing all efforts to work with children, unlike many "pseudo-trainers" who are all day long occupied only with that entice foreign pupils and "regale" on the gotovenky.

In 1976 Bekmurzov's family got over to Uzbekistan. Uncle Mischa for short term managed to create skeleton of adherents and the base for the whole landing from beginning Ossetian wrestlers who moved to Uzbekistan. It, in turn, caused unknown interest in the republic to free-style wrestling and raised level of skill of local wrestlers. There were first victories on youthful, youth superiority of the USSR. And by 1983 the solid team which on the Sports contest of the people of the USSR entered into the five of the strongest was already formed. Considering that earlier the team up to such heights didn't rise, it was the first serious break.

In 1992 Mikhail Gavrilovich retired and moved to Vladikavkaz, but continued to help young trainers, actively participated in public life of the republic. In memory of the wrestling world Mikhail Gavrilovich Bekmurzov remained as one of the best middleweighters the world of the 60th and one of the best trainers of the Soviet Union of the time.

Surprisingly that it, having reached such heights, remained modest, brought up in the best Caucasian traditions. It is possible to call him safely the favourite of the people, object of general respect and adoration. Free-style wrestling was its force, weakness, passion and a way of life at the same time. Difficulties at children's and youthful age tempered its character, taught to transfer with firmness difficulties of life and in many respects defined its style of wrestling. Both in real life, and in sports it was resolute and unshakable. But at the same time Mikhail Gavrilovich throughout all the life never lost sense of humour.

On August 30, 2013 to Mikhail Gavrilovich 85 years had to be executed. But on August 10 after a long illness his life broke. This name is entered by gold letters in history not only Ossetian, Russian, but also world sports; in his honor the Soviet anthem more than once was executed, and unforgettable wrestlings and triumphal victories forever remain in memory of the people.
