Held twenty nine tournaments in elite divisions makuuti and dzyure Hotiyama declared today completion of professional career рикиси and passed to trainer's work.
The 31-year-old athlete used the new rule which has made small eases for applicants for licenses of trainers-mentors (oyakata).
There can be oyakatami only the wrestlers being citizens of the Emperor of Japan and carrying at least on one basyo a rank komusubi either higher rank, or consisting at least on twenty tournaments in the highest league makuuti or totally at least on thirty tournaments in makuuti and the second elite division dzyure.
Last month the Board of directors of Japanese Association of sumo corrected this rule, having made trainer's licenses available for rikisi, possessing the elite status sekitori (consisting in makuuti or in dzyure) only on twenty eight tournaments if they secure with the recommendation of the senior trainer-mentor (sisyo) and the guarantee of one more oyakata.
Hotiyama carried out six basyo in makuuti and twenty three basyo in dzyure.
The athlete suffering from diabetes spoke at last tournament in the fourth league (sandamme) and won seven victories in seven fights.
Hotiyama passed to trainer's work, having rented at komusubi Okinoumi Kimigakham's license.
