Day of Gviniashvili - the valukh and "Mercedes"

Tuesday, 17 December 2013, 10:34
Day of Gviniashvili - the valukh and

11-hour wrestling marathon crowned of triumph Paata Gviniashvili's. The Karelian wrestler won a title of Palawan of Georgia of the 2013th year and received a key from an unprecedented prize – Mercedes brand cars.

Acting to 90 kg the athlete won weight category not on one tournament on traditional Georgian wrestling of "Chidaoba" and for a long time it is considered strong Palawan, but its victories at competitions of such rank after all many didn't wait.

After a long pause of Chidaoba returned to circus, however the arena didn't manage to be strewed with sawdust and tournament was held on a tatami. Organizers spread out mattresses on a sublime scene of the Dances with Stars teleproject, in a consequence of that a certain similarity Japanese dohe, with that only a difference turned out that in professional Sumo falling down from an eminence ordinary business, and for the Georgian wrestling incomparably more dynamic and sated with receptions this was excessively extreme. Wrestlers didn't risk to do throws on the edge of a circle not to throw the rival into a hall. A little from them, because of such care, passed counterreceptions and lost. And in certain cases didn't do and without falling and a trauma. Absolutely safe there was also no circle as mattresses weren't strongly fitted and from wrestling to grab between them there were gaps in which at wrestlers feet got stuck...

Despite these defects, Palavnoba 2013 in purely sports relation obviously surpassed competitions of previous years.   Most of all state support to this traditional sport pleases.   That development and promoting of Chidaoba is one of the main priorities of the Ministry of sports and for youth, the minister Levan Kipiani spoke about it at a press conference before tournament and repeated during the opening ceremony.   On tournament there were a Minister of Internal Affairs and members of parliament.   And the audience from Tbilisi and regions almost completely filled tribunes.   Among the audience there was also last year's Palawan Adam Okruashvili who couldn't act this time because of an injury of a hand.

At first competitions in separate weight categories - 80, 90, 100 and +100 kg then wrestling for a title of Palawan continued on 4 best wrestlers from each category took place.

In 80 kg of all hashurets Zurab Nozadze overcame. He won against Georgy Papunashvili's goriyets intense final wrestling 4:3. In 90 kg in a decisive duel of goriyets Beka Gviniashvili won against karelets Paata Gviniashvili . The final in 100 kg between hashurets Georgy Nozadze and gardabanets David Loriashvili came to the end in a draw 1:1, however Nozadze who has taken the last point became the champion. In heavy weight sagaredzhoyets Levan Matiashvili surely overcame all rivals, and in the final won against sachkherets to Onisa Bugadze. Along with finalists wrestling for a title of Palawan continued also: Georgy Makharashvili from Mtskheta, a karelets Zviad Kapanadze (they are 80 kg), goriyets David Karbelashvili and Dzhumber Gigauri (they are 90 kg), karelets Ioseb Mskhaladze, Tornike Otinashvili from Samachablo (they are 100 kg), kutaisets Rostom Hakhaleishvili and a goriyets of the Giga Gelashvili (they are +100 kg).

Prior to decisive competition in which participants met on a blind lot, for a raising of mood of fans actors from comic show of the 90th "Pa the Session" which also played mobile phones and champagne among fans worked.

From 1/8-final fights it is necessary to allocate Papunashvili's flawless victory over much heavy Hakhaleishvili. Paat and Beck Gviniashvili also passed heavier rivals. Surely conducted Paat in the account against Bugadze when this the last was traumatized and couldn't continue wrestling, and Beck was won by Mskhaladze – 5:3. Loriashvili a pure throw won against Zurab Nozadze, Georgy Nozadze's rival couldn't leave because of a trauma, Karbelashvili won against Kapanadze, Gelashvili – Makharashvili, and Matiashvili – Gigauri.

In a quarterfinal we became witnesses of one of the most spectacular fights of day in which Beck Gviniashvili, having made some effective throws through a shoulder, won with a clear advantage at Gigabytes of Gelashvili who almost surpassed it in dimensions twice. Georgy Nozadze passed Karbelashvili, Matiashvili – Loriashvili, and Paata Gviniashvili – Papunashvili.

Semi-finals passed against well familiar disputes for the Georgian wrestling and noise and video analyses absolutely unfamiliar hitherto. During wrestling  between Georgy Nozadze and Beki Gviniashvili, according to many, Nozadze because of passivity deserved one more prevention that left it out of the final, however judges solved on another and, despite protests and numerous video viewing, upheld the verdict. Gviniashvili lost with a difference in one point and, probably, wouldn't support in wrestling the third place, if not intervention of eminent representatives of the wrestling world.

The final was given more intense and several times interrupted, last time – in two seconds prior to a final siren when the account was neutral and Nozadze's fans demanded to show to Gviniashvili the prevention because of passivity. After repeated viewing of records of disputable episodes the judicial table under the leadership of Tamaz Tamazashvili made the decision on wrestling continuation before the first reception. After Gviniashvili's almost 5-minute viscous wrestling executed a victorious throw.

To Palawan together with a key from "Mercedes" presented also a traditional prize - the valukh. The wrestler who has taken the second place received 3 000 lari, and the bronze prize-winner – 2 000. To prize-winners on separate weight categories monetary prizes of 1000, 700 and 400 lari were awarded.
