The triple Olympic champion, the deputy of the State Duma Aleksandr Karelin in interview of "RG" told about the future of the Olympic Movement.

The world knows you as most titled athlete - the representative of Greco-Roman wrestling. This discipline is considered one of the most ancient: it existed at the time of the Ancient Greek Olympic Games. Now you are engaged in public work, you are the deputy of the State Duma. What lines of your character allow to be so demanded in so different fields of activity - and whether these spheres so are different?

Aleksandr Karelin: Life is a wrestling, life is an overcoming therefore in any sphere of human activity we need to be purposeful, hardworking, patient. In sports, especially in mass, these qualities give, so to speak, in pure form, for "love to art" - to art to live: to fill the life by useful affairs, emotions, impressions which enrich, to find adherents, to find friends. Criteria of "correctness" are put in our traditions, in moral ethical standards and sports are a necessary addition to that the family, school gives.

To the present situation I am obliged to Greco-Roman wrestling. But there are many examples when such horizons are reached by people who in the childhood practised music, the fine arts, dances, were fond of equipment, modeling. Here everything occurs according to the classical scheme - "don't allow soul to be lazy …", it can be regarded as an appeal and the guide to action, to it plus - responsibility, aspiration to grow and develop every day to learn something new. It is difficult for me to divide the life into the periods when I was simply the athlete when became the public figure and it and it is impossible. As the athlete I represented the country on tournaments of planetary scale, but thereby, I, as well as my many team mate, was the political representative of the state, the Homeland. Being acting wrestler, I held tournaments, meetings with children, teenagers, with adults, and it was not simply social work. I repay a debt to a favourite sport, I give the chance to get acquainted with the world of the strong people making the nation of winners.

We will pass a little in other subject cast by the Olympic Games in Sochi. Social networks get into various spheres of human life. The National Fund of Mass Development of Sports (NFMDS) in cooperation with the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) created the Internet portal, allowing to carry out online competitions within which rivals can be both participants of the Olympic Games, and simple fans of sports. Aleksandr Karelin: Yes, I support Alexander Chernozubov's initiative about creation of the Internet portal, urged to give new sounding to persons of eminent domestic athletes. It will allow to tell impressive audience about experience thanks to which the success and achievements, about movement to the worthy purposes in sports and in life came. The idea is interesting, modern and actual. It is obvious that there is a place to the creative relation to business, desire by means of modern information technologies, to fill up army of adherents of a healthy lifestyle - the people who are engaged in physical culture and sport.

Visitors of the Internet portal created by National Fund of Mass Development of Sports with support of the Russian International Olympic University, can not only receive direct methodical instructions from recognized masters in the sports, winners of the Olympic Games of gymnasts Alexey Nemov and Evgeny Podgorny, the diver Dmitry Sautin. Everyone can become the exacting arbitrator, so far as concerns competitive initiatives. Everyone can receive the methodical recommendations packed into a convenient form for giving and perception: to look how to execute these or those technical elements, to understand criteria of an assessment. Also, it is necessary to provide existence of distinct, effective market mechanisms for ensuring activity of the Internet portal that will allow to apply for distinct budgetary tasks, but not for grants.

It is natural, very important to keep superiority in authorship of idea, the right for its embodiment in life beyond Russia to avoid intellectual "loan" of ideology, a technique, software products representatives of other countries. Sports life of Russia is rich with events of planetary scale, and for team of a portal of work will suffice.

Perhaps, participation in the program of preparation and carrying out the World winter University games in Krasnoyarsk in 2019 can become one of the indicative and interesting moments. In this project of technology of initiators founders of a portal can be approved and improved, such field for experiments is a great luck, and the got experience will allow us to bring activities for promotion of mass sports, a healthy lifestyle to new level.

All athletes agree that huge value in their professional formation is played by the trainer. The national Fund of Mass Development of Sports developed hi-tech methodical grants on different types of sports. How correspond the importance for the athlete of the trainer and a convenient methodical material? Whether can help new 3-D grants to trainers with work with the wards?

Aleksandr Karelin: I think that methodical 3-D grants - reasonable addition to available tools for ensuring training process. To some extent, it is one more step to strengthen an emotional sheaf "the trainer - the athlete". No grant will replace live communication, but opportunity quickly to get acquainted with the advanced techniques, to discuss seen with the mentor, to define as far as it suits the pupil, is worth a lot. We have an opportunity to examine the mass of variations of technical actions, "to sort" on making style of the titled and well-known athletes, to receive a new reason for dialogue of the trainer and the pupil and to formulate the vision. 3-D grants are an answer to time calls, to acceleration of a rhythm of our life, but they can't be an independent element, this new additional link of system of a physical education and training of high-class athletes.

Prior to the Olympic Games the western mass media it is critical responded about readiness of Sochi for the Olympic Games. Nevertheless, from the first days of Games many foreign mass media agreed that by Sochi are prepared at high level. Who, in your opinion, has to give an assessment to the Olympic Games - her organizers, mass media or the audience and fans of sports?

Aleksandr Karelin: Everyone could give to the Olympic Games an assessment. Thanks to social networks, blogs guests, athletes, officials, fans shared the impressions. Russia passed serious examination, and in set of responses, we deserved a firm assessment "perfectly". It is possible to judge it on mood of the president of the IOC Thomas Bach, impressions of athletes, publications in the foreign press which in paints described episodes of official ceremonies, wrestling peripetias for awards of Games. Representatives of the countries who should accept in the near future winter and summer Games declared the desire to get that experience which representatives of the Organizing committee "Sochi — 2014" have.

What, in your opinion, happens to ideas of an Olympism and the world? What role mass sports in modern political life can play? Whether carrying out online competitions where participants regardless of their nationality, geographical and financial position are allowed is important?

Aleksandr Karelin: Online competitions have big prospects and in promotion of the principles of an Olympism, in adjustment of the friendly relations between athletes of the different countries. For on-line tournaments it isn't necessary to make out in addition visas, transportation costs are excluded, it simplifies demand and participation procedure. Therefore to initiate and hold such tournaments very important, a form new - a good information occasion, a registration on the Internet - a cut in expenditure guarantee on media support. Visitors, will determine by the attention, what competitions are pleasant to them more and what - it is even more. Here the educational effect is possible also - expansion of a circle of contacts will demand improvement of knowledge in foreign languages. Thus, development goes in a complex, the public relations are harmonized, personal spiritual growth proceeds. Modern athletes are faithful to the principles of an Olympism, ideas which were offered by Pierre de Coubertin.

Yes, the world isn't so perfect as there is a wish. Except high achievements in sports, there has to be a civilized domestic and foreign policy, it is less than contradictions in policy, in economy, in the social sphere. It is necessary to admit that it is simpler to destroy system, than to build the new. The dizzy feeling of freedom adjoining on impunity, will cause sooner or later a heavy hangover, sports, an Olympism here not and - it remember, know, trust. Matter in other: it is necessary to be responsible, to go about the own business, to try to hear interlocutors and to respect the opponents, the same as in sports respect rivals, even those who over and over again "selects" a treasured medal because does it by rules, openly, so, it is worthy admiration and praises.
