Sergey Kharitonov began professional career of the fighter of MMA in 2000, but became known to general public thanks to the bright performances in the Japanese organization Pride Fighting Championships under which banner it debuted in 2003. Acting under the auspices of legendary promotion within four years, Kharitonov carried out 11 duels, having written down into the account of 8 victories and having become the semifinalist of Gran-pri of PRIDE 2004. Including, to them such known fighters, as Murilyo Hua, Sammy Shilt, Pedro Jizzo and Fabricio Verdum were prostrate. After PRIDE disorder Kharitonov continued performances on the K-1 HERO tournaments, K-1Dynamite and DREAM, and in 2011 took part in the Grand Prix of heavyweights of Strikeforce. Having knocked out in Andrey Arlovsky's first circle, Sergey Kharitonov left in the second, having lost to suffocation to future finalist of Gran-pri, Josh Barnett. After Strikeforce purchase by the Zuffa company, the heavy division of promotion was disbanded – the part of fighters passed into UFC, and the part was released on free bread. At the moment Sergey Kharitonov acts under banners of the Russian mma-promotions and as the kickboxing industry, Glory World Series takes part in tournaments of the world leader.
