The ex-champion of UFC in a light heavyweight Mauricio Rua (21-8) told about why considers the rules PRIDE better than the rules UFC.
"Certainly, modern rules MMA disturb me. I consider that that set governed which was used when I acted in Japan, is safer.
Blows elbows are much more injury-causing, than stomps. I got used to those rules and when passed into UFC, I needed some time to adapt.
And if it is honest, my style in many respects relied on stomps and soccer-kiki so change of rules became a huge minus for me upon transition to UFC.
I hope that one fine day UFC legalizes stomps and soccer-kiki. It would be healthy. I won't remember that at the time of PRIDE somebody strongly suffered from these blows", - told Mauricio.
