In the past weekend in the Estonian city of Tartu traditional memorial tournament on Greco-Roman wrestling of the legendary Estonian wrestler of the Swedish origin – George Hakenshmidt took place
Hakenshmidt was born on August 1, 1877 in the city of Tartu (Estonia). At the end of the 19th century it glorified Estonia, became the first champion of Europe in a super heavyweight in 1898. Hakenshmidt in 1968 in London (England) died.
Traditional memorial tournament is held for the Baltic countries in which wrestlers, classics and women take part. This year from Ukraine there went classic Fevzi Mamutov from Sevastopol. Mamutov fought in weight category to 66 kg where became the champion.
