18 years ago - one of Zaporozhye "patriarchs" of Greco-Roman wrestling, the outstanding trainer and the instructor of youth Pavel Ivanovich Kushchinsky on March 25, 1995 died.
On March 23-24, 2013 in one of the best sport constructions of Ukraine – a sports arena of JSC Zaporozhstal I passed the IX youthful tournament on the Greco-Roman wrestling, devoted to P.I.Kushchinsky's memory. Solemn opening of tournament began with parade of participants which by the developed tradition was headed by a column of veterans of the Zaporozhye carpet which most part was represented by Pavel Ivanovich pupils, writes Pro-sports. With welcome speech on behalf of combine "Zaporozhstal" the director of Sport center of JSC Zaporozhstal, the honored worker of physical culture and sports of Ukraine addressed to participants and guests of competitions Vladimir Petrovitch Yamshchikov. Then everything which were present at a sports arena honored P.I.Kushchinskogo's light memory moment of silence.
More than 100 young wrestlers aged from 7 till 13 years fought for the awards of tournament founded by combine "Zaporozhstal" in 16 weight categories. Young athletes of the Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and Zaporozhye areas in persistent, not on - to the adult, beautiful and uncompromising wrestling, sorted out the relations on two wrestling mats, maintained by the numerous audience.
It is necessary to tell that for years of carrying out tournament more than one and a half thousand people took part in it. Among winners and prize-winners of tournament of memory P.I.Kushchinskogo there were athletes who became subsequently wrestlers of the international level, such as the world champion in powerlifting Feodor Zaremba, the champion of Europe among juniors Samir Voloshanin, the silver prize-winner of the First junior Olympic Games in Singapore Alexander Litvinov, the prize-winner of the World Cup among juniors Arcady Blyumin and many others.
As a result of two days of persistent wrestling on six gold awards wrestlers of Zaporozhye and Vasilkovka (The Dnepropetrovsk Region) won, four gold medals at wrestlers of Kharkov. The Zaporozhye wrestlers became champions of the IX youthful tournament of memory of the deserved trainer of the USSR P.I.Kushchinskogo: Zakhar Lepetchenko (32 kg, "Dynamo"), Arthur Ovsepyan (35 kg, DYuSSh-6), Andrey Pashnyuk (38 kg, DYuSSh-6), Vladislav Guzenko (42 kg, "Ear"), Nikita Solovyev (53 kg, DYuSSh-6), Alexander Evdokimov (66 kg, DYuSSh-6).
