It is known that yesterday at the 125th session the IOC in Buenos Aires the decision that Japanese Tokyo becomes the capital of the summer Olympic Games-2020 was made. However behind this news a little in a shadow there was another, is far, probably, not less important: recommended for an exception of the program of summer Games-2020 wrestling defended the Olympic status.

Our fellow countryman — the member of FILA Bureau (The international Federation of the integrated styles of wrestling), the silver and bronze prize-winner of Olympic Games on Greco-Roman wrestling of Daulet Turlykhanov became one of the main creators of this very big success of rather medaleemky sport for Kazakhstan. We also decided to discuss details of this so significant victory with the glorified domestic athlete and the sports figure.

— Daulet Bolatovich, first of all, allow you to congratulate on that wrestling remains in the program of Olympic Games! As far as we know, very powerful contribution to this decision was made by you.

— Thanks for a congratulation! It would be desirable to tell at first a little about work of the International Federation of the integrated styles of wrestling of FILA. The Bureau of this organization include 21 persons, 17 from which are elected the Congress of FILA for a period of 6 years. Structure of management of the International Federation of the integrated styles of wrestling from top to down is as follows: president of FILA, Executive committee, Bureau. Plus four continental Federations of wrestling. About 200 countries develop types of wrestling which are united by FILA.

Initially at the former head of the International Federation of the integrated styles of wrestling the Swiss of the Italian origin Raphael Martinetti I began wrestling against it. With much I didn't agree. Even, in protest, I withdrew the candidacy. But one man is no man... Martinetti individually made important fatal decisions, was contrary to our opinion, achieved as a result of confrontation about the IOC.

As a result in March at FILA Bureau meeting we brought up a question of change of the head of the International Federation. And 11 voices of members of Bureau against 10 made the decision on Martinetti's resignation. Instead of it Serbian Nenad Lalovich became the president of FILA. The person who is a little far from wrestling, but thus the excellent organizer, the successful businessman who is perfectly knowing English, French, Russian languages.

With the new head at the head we started looking for a compromise with the International Olympic Committee. All offers, instructions, wishes of its management were executed. The department of athletes was created, the quantity of weight categories in female wrestling increased, rules are changed, the judicial committee is brought out of FILA submission. It began to be carried out works on advertizing, on cooperation about the IOC much more, with organizing committees applying for carrying out the summer Olympic Games-2020 Tokyo and Istanbul — it is known that Japan and Turkey — wrestling powers with rich history of development of our sport.

— Whether squash and baseball / softball were considered as strong contenders of wrestling challenging from it the status of the Olympic sport?

— Squash — this sport I only on TV saw. (Laughs). Baseball needs to be referred to game sports more likely. We were sure that we will be able to defend for wrestling a place among the Olympic sports.

I am glad and happy that types of wrestling kept the Olympic registration!

— But to stop on reached, perhaps, it is fraught?

— Much already works it was made, but now we need to improve wrestling further. It is necessary to develop staginess of this sport — the audience, as we know, loves colourful wrestling. I will be the technical delegate in the World Cup starting very soon in Hungary, we will bring up and consider there questions of the ripened innovations.

— In female wrestling there are more weight categories. Whether it means, what the total of sets of the Olympic medals for types of wrestling will increase?

— No, sets remains, as before, 18. On one weight category were taken from the Greco-Roman and free-style wrestling in favor of female. It was one of requirements the IOC. Concrete framework of weight categories will be defined on September 14-15 at meeting during the World Cup in Budapest. I can tell only that the competition very much increases in wrestling. When I fought, there were 10 weight categories, then them became 8, now — only 6.

— How you treated a choice as the capital of the Olympic games of 2020 of Tokyo?

— I was sure that dispute for the right to become the owner of the Olympic Games will win either Tokyo, or Istanbul. I think that in Japan everything will be orderly top-level — all of us remember winter Olympic Games in Nagano, even before Tokyo held the summer Olympic Games, to Japanese not to occupy experience in the matter.

— Preservation for initially entering into number of the Olympic sports wrestling of this status — a big victory?

—  Victory huge!  Victory of all members of FILA, our sponsors, the well-known athletes who were ready to refuse the Olympic Games won by them to a medal for the sake of wrestling preservation among the Olympic sports, all fans of wrestling.
