Dear sir Rogge!

  We are the people being away from active sports, not having direct contacts and personal interests in this sphere, but living sports.

  Information on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee on an exception of wrestling from the Olympic program shocked not only wrestlers, but also and million people who respect ideas of the Olympic movement. The Olympism is the philosophy of life becoming famous and combining harmoniously in a single whole of quality of a body, will and mind.

  Wrestling is the sports existing throughout thousands years. The cave drawings dated more, than 15.000 years ago, reflect scenes with images of two men accepted a fighting rack and going to snatch at each other. The majority of people, nevertheless, connect modern wrestling against ancient Greeks who created literature and innumerable number of stories on Herculean sports and its furious participants. According to the Greek mythology Zeus struggled with the father – Cronus, for a throne on the mountain the Olympus, and won. Wrestling is one of the first Olympic sports which was added to run and was included in ancient pentatlon. Pythagoras, the Plateau, Pindar, Alkinadi and Aristotle loved wrestling.

  Wrestling has very long traditions and history in many countries, and is often perceived as a national sport and a nobility symbol. The exception of wrestling of the list of the main Olympic sports will have devastating effect and becomes the main subject of disappointment for athletes and fans of sports, especially in the countries where it will be apprehended by people as violation of their feeling of national pride. We already became witnesses of strong protests which were expressed by the announcement of hunger strikes by great athletes and return of the Olympic medals to the IOC.

  People of the whole world perceive the Olympic movement as one of the strongest structures which unites people, encourages peace and diplomatic resolutions of conflicts around the world, and completely prevents them in the future.

  As a good example it is possible to give mutual congratulations and embraces of girls – representatives of two militant countries on the Olympic podium in 2008 in Beijing.

  As great humanist Victor Gugo told: "The world – civilization advantage. War – its deviation". People want the world and a world key - in diplomacy of people, and the Olympic movement – the effective weapon of human diplomacy. It makes sense to note that such unattractive signal of an exception of wrestlingunited the countries that politicians and diplomats couldn't reach.

We understand efforts of the Olympic Committee to bring a new stream in the Olympic movement introducing new sports, however we consider that realization of such innovations shouldn't be made at the expense of sports which in itself are a symbol of the Olympic movement.

  We hope, the International Olympic Committee will read our letter and will take into account the wishes expressed by the Huge Commonwealth for preservation of a favourite sport among the main disciplines of the Olympic movement, and also will revise the initial decision.

Dear sir Rogge!

  This address was made at the initiative of Club of Senators of FILA and its President during the championship of Europe  closing ceremony in Tbilisi (Georgia). It is the country where sports are culture which has a huge number of Olympic champions where wrestling is national honor. The country where the first toast rises for the world and for sports – a world symbol.

  We are sure that the new management of the International Federation of wrestling with support of the International Olympic committee will do everything possible for revival of the spectacular and emotional maintenance of this classical sport that each wrestling became the great holiday expressing noble spirit.
