In Ivano-Frankovsk will take place All-Ukrainian tournament on free-style wrestling

On Saturday-Sunday, April 13-14, the arena of the Ivano-Frankovsk college of a physical education will turn into the arena of wrestlingfights. In the regional center traditional All-Ukrainian tournament on the free-style wrestling, devoted to veterans ofwrestling of Prikarpatye again will take place. Yesterday the press conference of organizers of competitions took place.

This All-Ukrainian tournament happens in Ivano-Frankovsk the seventh year in a row. As the president of regional federation of free-style wrestling Edward Proshchuk told, this time on competitions about 300 participants will gather. Exceptwrestlers from many areas of Ukraine to us there will arrive athletes from Slovakia, Russia, Moldova, Belarus and Poland. To compete athletes young men (1996-1997 year of birth). In three weight categories willfight also younger young men (2001-2002 year of birth).

"This year tournament will take place under the slogan "Save Olimpic Wrestling" (we will rescue the Olympicwrestling), - Edward Proshchuk noted. - This movement in support of wrestling as Olympic sport. Today the world wrestling community is concerned possibility of an exception of these sports from the program of Olympic Games. Therefore now all competitions and other actions forwrestling happen under this slogan".

Organizers emphasize that the main idea and the tournament purpose - celebration of veterans ofwrestling of Prikarpatye. Therefore tens former athletes, present trainers will gather on opening ceremony not only free-style wrestling, but also judo, sambo. On Saturday, at 15:00 during opening ceremony touching action - traditional parade of veterans, legendary athletes of our area will take place. In turn young athletes will have opportunity to communicate to these over skilled wise people.

"These competitions very valuable to young athletes, - are told by the deserved trainer of Ukraine Igor Barna. - They can get hand in. Besides, today we aren't able to afford to do many far departures on competitions in other areas, or abroad, therefore this tournament very opportunely. I can tell that preparedwrestlers from Yakutia will be participants on our tournament, therewrestling is very popular. I think that we will see very goodwrestlers from Ukraine. In general our tournament always very interesting, the competition is traditionally high".
